Hello,
I have just upgraded my HP ProBook 4535s from Windows 8.1 Pro x64 with Media Center to Windows 10 Pro x64 via the Media Creation Tool and am experiencing the following issue:
The drivers provided by Windows for the dual-graphics solution AMD Radeon HD6520G (driver version: 15.200.1062.1004) and AMD Radeon HD7450M (driver version: 15.200.1060.0) cause several problems:
- On system start / reboot / wake up from hibernation a black screen is shown for about 60 seconds (after the initial Windows logo has been shown and before the lock screen is shown). Thus booting up Windows 10 takes about 4 times longer than booting up Windows 8.1 on the same machine.
- Playback of HTML-embedded Flash videos fails at least with Edge, Chrome and Firefox browsers (audio is played but video screen remains black).
- Windows 10 app 'Movies & TV' fails to play mp4 videos (audio is played but video screen remains black). Other video file formats like mkv or avi are played correctly.
- Windows 10 app 'Get Started' fails to play its videos (audio is played but video screen remains black, audio stops after about 5 seconds).
Available now in open beta, the AMD Gaming Evolved Desktop App Powered by Raptr enable AMD users to get the most out of their gaming experience by suggesting customized optimal game settings for their rigs, earn real rewards just for playing games, and have instant access to in-game tools such as broadcasting live video via Twitch, taking screenshots, web browsing, and chat.
After a consecutive clean install of Windows 10 the described problems were gone as long as Windows did not install yet any specific graphics driver (right after a clean install Device Manager lists both graphic chips as 'Windows Basic Display Adapter's). But even though I hid the respective Windows updates via the 'Show and hide updates' tool right after the very first login, Windows downloaded and installed the errouneous drivers without showing this action under 'Start -> Settings -> Update & security -> Windows Update -> Advanced options -> View your update history'. Suddenly the screen flashed, an 'AMD Catalyst Control Center' window popped up, Device Manager showed the updated device drivers, and the problems were back - spooky...
My questions:
(1) Is there a graphics driver version available that does not suffer the mentioned problems?
(2) If not, is there anything I can do to avoid at least this incredible long bootup time?
(3) If not, how can I prevent that Windows 10 installs the obviously erroneous driver and stays with the 'Windows Basic Display Adapter' driver instead?
Best regards,
